PERFORMING ARTS

As we come towards the end of the Performance Season, I want to share with you the extraordinary work that the students have undertaken over the past two weeks.

VCE PERFORMANCE NIGHT

VCE Music Performance Night took place on Wednesday 8 November. The night was a celebration of the extraordinary talent, dedication, and passion displayed by our Years 10-11 music students throughout the year. The students honed their musicianship skills in performance, analysis, and composition and proudly presented their best performance pieces from their folio of music works. 

 

The performances presented were a testament to the countless hours of practice, the unwavering enthusiasm, and the sheer determination and passion that our students have invested in their VCE musical pursuits. YEAR 10 & 11 THEATRE STUDIES NIGHT

Congratulations to all Years 10 and 11 Theatre Studies students who took part in their performance night Friday 10 November.

 

The Year 11s took on a performance taking on the challenge of an Epic Theatre script naturalistic choices, while the Year 10s looked at Climate Change and its impact through non-naturalistic conventions.

 

What an incredible night showcasing all your hard work and incredible effort throughout the semester. You should all be so proud of the work you produced!

BAND AND STRING WORKSHOPS

Over the past two weeks we have had some amazing workshops with the Years 7 & 8 Strings and Band classes, working on creating a cohesive ensemble sound.

 

Year 7 Bands worked with Jemima Bunn on Wednesday 8 November at the McKinnon Road Campus.

Year 8 and the Ovenden Bands worked with Joe O’Callaghan on Wednesday 8 November at the East Campus.

On Thursday 9 November the Year 7 Strings at the McKinnon Road Campus, and Monday 13 November the Year 8 Strings at the East Campus worked with Sonia Rogers.

All ensembles discovered new ways of internalising the beat, working with a balanced sound, an finding the range of dynamics that they could use.

SENIOR ART SHOW OPENING

Congratulations and thank you to Year 11 student Gisele Hennequin and Year 12 student Ruben Stein-Fooks, who provided fantastic background music for the opening of the Senior Art Show on Wednesday 15 November. 

WOODWIND CONCERT

Congratulations to the East Campus woodwind students for their preparation and performance at the concert on Thursday 16 November. It was fantastic to see and hear all the woodwind specific ensembles performing an interesting array of pieces. Thanks to James Morrissey, Martin Lee, Bernadette Russo, and Karen Nansen for their preparation of the students for the evening.
