YEAR 9 ICT SEMESTER 2

Based on the theme of creating a Website, students follow the four phases of the Problem Solving Methodology to produce an information product – Analyse, Design, Development and Evaluation. They will use such applications as Photoshop, Google Drawings, mind-mapping software, and a web design program. Throughout the unit, students will study appropriate theories on computers and their use, website design principles and copyright issues. This is what some of the students have said about the subject.

Choosing ICT as an elective subject for this semester was undeniably an excellent decision, as it has opened up many digital opportunities and learning experiences. Under the excellent guidance of our teacher, Mr Russo, in ICT this semester, we have been learning how to use several different technical operations and software like Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver. 

 

On Photoshop, we honed skills in crafting short animations, editing and seamlessly merging images, and curating personalised collages, all based on any given topic. We had a Learning Task for these operations earlier last term, which set us the challenge of selecting a specific theme and creating an animation, a visually striking collage banner, and an image edit from two images sourced from the vast expanse of the internet. I chose to focus on the different types of cars, and the result was a resounding success. 

 

During the course on the topic this semester, we have also been learning how to use Dreamweaver to make websites using both Java and Bootstrap. We are working on a learning task to make websites on Dreamweaver with any given topic. 

 

We also had a previous theoretical test with basic information and starting factors of websites and their files. I would like to thank our teacher, Mr Russo, who has aided us greatly with the different software we have been working with, providing great information and help wherever needed. His dedication to the subject and his commitment to our growth have made this ICT course a remarkable and rewarding experience, enhancing our technological skills and igniting a profound liking towards the digital world.

In this semester's ICT lessons, we explored Photoshop and Dreamweaver. 

 

I had never used either of these platforms before, yet thanks to Mr Russo, who taught us how to explore tools, navigate layers, apply filters, and create banners that are now so easily applied.

 

Going into Dreamweaver was equally exciting as we created new web pages and learned how to code them accordingly. The code became clearer as we seamlessly integrated it into using JavaScript.
