Hockey Success

Pictured above: North West Graduates victorious senior men’s team 

North West Graduates had outstanding success in the senor sections of Southern Tasmania Hockey League. The club achieved the double – winning both the men’s and women's senior titles – thirty years since it had previously done so.

In the men’s final NW Grads defeated University 3-2. The victorious team had a significant Old Virgilian component - Alistair White (coach), Tyson & Harvey Bessell, James Bourke and Angus McMullen, whilst another former student, Josh Brookes was part of the Uni team. 

Alistair, Harvey and Josh along with Jack Welch and Gobindraj Gill are OV members of the Tassie Tigers squad playing in the national competition - the coach for which is another OV, Stephen McMullen.

(Tyson Bessel was also featured in the September edition of OVAtions by way of acknowledgement of his recent gaining of a PhD in Marine and Antarctic Science.)
