International Achievements

Max Giuliani (SVC 2012-19) has been competing in Europe in the Swimming World Cup series - and with outstanding results.

The three- meet series was conducted at Berlin, Athens and Budapest. Max’s dominant event is the 200m freestyle. He gained a silver medal at Berlin in a personal best time and followed up with another silver in Athens. In both instances he was second to Lithuanian swimmer Danas Rapsys. Come the third meet, Max gained a gold in another personal best time of 1min 45.42. This a five second improvement what he was swimming in 2021.

By way of comparison it is worth noting that the Australian record is still held by Ian Thorpe at 1.44.06 and the world record by Paul Bierderman (Germany) with 1.42.00. Max has now surpassed Kyle Chambers best timer for the distance at 1.45.48.

Congratulations to Year 11 student Eli Monaghan who recently finished second in the European Junior Open final qualifier in England, meaning that he has now won an all expenses paid trip to Spain in November to compete in the European Junior Open.

An amazing achievement with borrowed clubs and persisting through 12mm of rain and waterlogged greens. The pro ranks certainly beckon Eli in the coming years.
