Year 7 Alternative Sport Gala Day - 14 November

Year 7 Lacrosse

Awesome day at the Year 7 Lacrosse Gala Day. Our superstar Lacrosse players showcased great skill and excellent strategy to cap off a great term of learning the fundamentals. It was amazing to see the implementation of our students new skills and strategies in moving the ball down the field, moving the ball around and finding different avenues to the goals! Go Beauy!

Congratulations to Beaumaris A for their win!

The pressure was on for the final, given that Beauy A had lost to Sandy earlier in the day. Nevertheless, Beauy kept their cool and held their lead throughout the final. Sandy fought back hard in the final minutes, but thanks to the outstanding goal keeping by Angelo K (MVP for the day!), who deflected multiple attempts by the opposition, we came away with the win. A special mention to Parshan N, who assisted coaching (demonstrating outstanding leadership) throughout the competition.

Well done to all members of our Handball Team, you all contributed to our success on the day, namely; Richard A, Will A, Campbell B, Saxon E, Mitchell H, Angelo K, Parshan N, Felix P, Liam B, James C, Slater D, Jackson E, Lucas G, Luca H, Patrick H, Finn M, Louis O and Samuel Z.

You have all demonstrated our CORE values of Curiosity, Optimism, Respect, Excellence and it been a pleasure coaching you throughout the term.

Year 7 Cricket

Well done to the Year 7 Cricket team that played in the Round Robin on Tuesday last week. Everyone put in their best effort! The boys team managed to place 3rd overall despite being down a few players at some points. Great team effort for everyone collaborating.

Year 7 Lawn Bowls

Tuesday was a great day. We had a very enjoyable time competing at lawn bowls. We travelled in a minivan to Coatesville Bowling Club and the artificial turf was excellent. Although it was a rainy day at the start, by around 11am, it was sunny and warm. We won three out of our five games and beat one team 7-1, and thanks to Mr Chesters, we all got Slurpees to celebrate.

Year 8 Boys Handball

Beaumaris took a total of three Handball teams to the Year 8 Sports Gala Day at Oakleigh. All 31 students had a great time and got involved in a sport which was certainly not familiar to them all. After a quick rundown of the rules, the A team took on McKinnon who seemed to have played handball before. The team went on to be gallant but lost the first game. The A team then went on and won the next two matches of their pool to have a contest against Bentleigh, who went on and won the title, to make it into the Grand Final. The semi-final was an end-to-end match where both teams were slotting goals for fun. It was however Bentleigh who progressed in a very close contest. Team A then went on and won the 3rd place play off against Brighton. The B and C teams interchanged their teams to ensure everyone had a few games throughout the day.

Overall, all students had a wonderful day and did a great job at representing our school.

Year 8 Girls Handball

Our Year 8 girls put up a fantastic competition for the Year 8 Handball Gala Day. They started the day with a skills/warm-up session with Handball Victoria, before getting into the round robin day. They played a total of 4 matches against Bentleigh, Brighton, McKinnon and Sandringham and their skills improved noticeably as the day progressed. We had a mix of wins, losses and draws and some very exciting matches where both teams were on the edges of their seats. Special mention to Ellie M for an excellent job at goalie!
