Being Well at Magill

Hello Magill Families,

Welcome to week four’s wellbeing instalment as we continue to share some helpful resources from URSTRONG about the Language of Friendship. The topics of sessions 2 and 3 are ‘How to Make Friends’ and ‘What’s Normal in a Friendship'. Enjoy and have a lovely weekend.

Overview

Making friends is a skill that can be taught. Let’s help your child learn this important life lesson!

Objective

This session teaches children how to spark a new friendship. Kids learn how to introduce themselves and then practice the art of conversation, an important life skill that is often overlooked and not explicitly taught. Once children know how to hold a conversation, they learn how to take it to the next level by finding something in common with someone to plant the seed for a new friendship to grow.

What’s Normal in a Friendship

Overview

Not all kids know what to expect in friendship, so they make assumptions. Let’s help them learn what’s normal!

Objective

Once children understand what’s normal and common in a friendship, they know what to expect. We help them create realistic expectations. This session teaches children the 4 Friendship Facts, helping them wrap their heads around what’s normal in a friendship, setting the foundation for all the friendships in their lives.
