School Council News

April’s meeting of the school council was again kicked off by a wonderful report from the Grade 6 JSC’s. Richie enthusiastically took the council through another action packed month of events and activities including, the always successful Easter Hat parade, the schools involvement in the Williamstown ANZAC day dawn service, the Grade 6 ANZAC day assembly as well as their recent excursion to Sovereign Hill as part of this term's inquiry topic.  In addition he shared his experience of featuring in a new school video promotion about what it means to be a Willy Kid. This video was shown at the recent 2026 enrolment information evening with the students again demonstrating what great ambassadors they are for the school.

Mat went through the Principal Report and Building and Grounds Report. The great efforts of the Friends of Willy and JSC’s, in fundraising through the Easter Raffle and cupcake stall, were acknowledged. He shared the progress that’s been made with the new cleaning contractor to ensure expectations are aligned and the school is always looking its best. In addition Mat and Lisa conducted the 2026 Prep Enrolment Information evening which had a great turn out, standing room only, with the material presented being well received.  An update was provided on the shade sail area asphalt resurfacing and the junior toilet upgrade projects, which are both progressing, with recent site visits and the designs maturing.

Finally the finance reports were tabled, with the school saving bonus (SSB) being a topic of discussion. Again it was acknowledged the efforts of Cheryl and the office staff in managing the SSB. A reminder to parents to keep track of their balance.

Next meeting is the 20th May and will include the AGM.
