Dogs Connect Program

A new and exciting partnership

Wangaratta High School is excited to share that our school is partnering with the Dogs Connect Program as part of a new, research-based initiative to support student wellbeing and connection.

This evidence-based program focuses on building broad-scale connectedness and emotional wellbeing across the entire school community. As part of this approach, our wellbeing dogs will eventually work in both classroom and wellbeing spaces, supporting students with their learning, emotional regulation, and overall mental health.

It’s important to note that this is a carefully staged introduction. While our dogs may visit the school during the early stages, they will not be regular fixtures on campus for some time. Over the coming weeks and months, we will be preparing our whole school community to ensure the success and sustainability of this important work.

We understand that our community may have questions, curiosities, or even concerns — and we are here to work through those together. This program is about building authentic connection, not only for our students but for all of us. It presents a unique opportunity to enrich our culture, strengthen student engagement, and build wellbeing practices that are inclusive and lasting.
