Happening in the Community

PerformX, Performing Arts School

PerformX, is a performing arts school based in Werribee, and we are offering three high-value full 12-month scholarships (valued at $2,000 each) for young people aged 5–18 who are passionate about the performing arts and reside in Wyndham. There are two categories - one to support families facing financial or personal hardship and one to recognise outstanding talent. Each scholarship also includes a gift pack, complete with fitted jazz shoes from our supporting partner Bloch valued at $200.

We’re committed to a 1-in-10 model: for every 10 paying students, we aim to offer one scholarship so we’re really focused on reaching the right families and growing this impact year on year and hope you can support us in sharing this information.

The Alfred’s P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth) On Program—a trauma prevention and education session designed specifically for young people aged 15+.

Many young people live with the belief that “it won’t happen to me.” Our goal is to challenge that perception through a real-world, eye-opening experience that highlights how everyday decisions can have life-altering consequences.

At the heart of the program is a simple but vital message: Choice, Risk, and Consequence.

Thanks to the support of the Highland Foundation, we are offering a special session open to the public:

🗓 Date: Tuesday, 24th June 2025

🕠Time: 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM

📍Location: The Alfred Hospital (includes access to select trauma care areas)

💵Cost: $10 per person (fully refundable with 48+ hours’ notice)

🥤 Light refreshments provided

This 2.5-hour session includes a powerful mix of demonstrations and live presentations from trauma clinicians, emergency services, allied health professionals, and a former trauma patient ending with tours of our Trauma Centre and Intensive Care Unit which are the busiest in Australasia.

The program is not designed to scare our older youth but encourages students to reflect on risky behaviours and operates on the principle of proactive education, providing participants with real-life scenarios and interactive experiences that underscore the importance of safety, responsible decision-making, and the consequences of risky behaviours.

By addressing issues such as impaired driving, substance abuse, and injury prevention head-on, we strive to educate young Victorians to make positive choices and avoid potentially life-threatening situations.
