Year 6 Leadership Day

Year 6 students spent the day developing their leadership abilities out in the community. They spent the morning completing an ‘Amazing Race’ around Mount Waverley and Glen Waverley, needing to work together in their teams to complete community service and team creative challenges to earn points for their team. They finished the day at Valley Reserve, putting their leaderships skills into action with their teams, completing challenges on obstacle courses and needing to work as a team to complete their activities.

Year 2 Royal Flying Doctor Service

Year 2 students had an amazing morning at the Royal Flying Doctor Service incursion. Tom, who led the session, explained the rich history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, an iconic and vital part of Australia’s healthcare system. The students were captivated by the stories and the significance of this service, and they participated beautifully throughout the session. One of the highlights was getting to explore the new plane. The students had the chance to step into the roles of pilots, doctors and patients, giving them a real sense of the work the Flying Doctors do.

Year 6 Technologies and STEM

This term, Year 6 are learning about how humans can use technology to have a positive impact on the environment. The use of drones is used to assist people and animals during environmental disasters and those in hard-to-reach places by dropping food and medicinal supplies. The Year 6s practised dropping items from their drones to imitate this.
