Term 2 Week 4 Year 2 Newsletter
Dear Year 2 parents & guardians,
It’s hard to believe that we are already in Week 4 of Term 2! The weather is cooling down and the autumn leaves let us know that Winter is on its way!
The Year 2 students have settled back into Term 2 and have been working so well. We were all very excited for our Whole School Maths Day yesterday! The students blew us away with their maths outfits, and we all enjoyed the parade in the morning. Thank you to the many parents that came along to our two Open Day sessions, it was so much fun having you in our rooms to join in the maths activities!
What we’ve been up to in the classroom:
● In Literacy we have started looking at the structure of Narratives and will begin writing our own narratives shortly.
● We have started our new Inquiry Unit ‘Where in the World?’ and have been exploring Atlases, Globes and Maps.
● In Maths the students have been enjoying our unit on shapes. Ask your child to identify some shapes around the house. How many sides does it have? How many corners?
● We have made new groups for Platoons on Thursdays and started Term 2 activities.
● In Wellbeing we are reading about all the different feelings, reflecting on when we have experienced them and having a think about strategies to use if we are in the yellow or red zone.
Reminders:
● Readers: please continue to try to read every night.
● Please consider putting your name down to help with classroom reading: it is so appreciated even if it’s once a term.
● Show and Tell: All students will have brought home their Book Report A3 piece of paper and a roster. Please check the roster for your child’s day to present their book report.
● Mathletics tasks are set every Tuesday. These are optional, but a great way of consolidating skills learned in class.
