In the final week of the 2025 school year, I want to take time to pause and reflect on all that has been taught, learnt and achieved by our students. It has been a year filled with opportunities for academic growth, skill development across a range of subjects, play-based, and real-world learning.

As we finish out another school year, can I encourage you to take time to focus on the true meaning of Christmas; the celebration and birth of Jesus, the hope, peace, forgiveness and love He brings. It is a time to be grateful, to demonstrate a generous spirit, to care for and check in on each other and to give thanks to God for His greatest gift of all; His Son Jesus. As a staff, we pray that this Christmas will bring your family moments of joy, reflection, rest, and thankfulness.

The staff deserve special recognition for their tireless commitment throughout the year. Their dedication to creating a school focused on academic excellence, while nurturing student wellbeing, and fostering a strong, supportive community has been remarkable. From leading the learning, to the behind-the-scenes planning, each staff member has contributed significantly to the growth of our students, as they continue on the path to becoming all that God intends them to be. I deeply appreciate the passion and professionalism of our teachers, learning support aides, groundsman and administration staff.

I also want to celebrate our students who have shown tremendous resilience, curiosity, and determination over the school year. Their academic, social, emotional, spiritual and personal growth reflects their hard work and willingness to learn. Whether they have been mastering new skills, overcoming challenges, developing confidence in LEGO ® League, bringing Marimba Magic to the community, or being part of the Burnie netball team, every student has achieved something to be proud of.

To our parents and carers, thank you for your support, encouragement, and partnership. Attending school events, volunteering your time, being present at community building activities such as Worship Wednesday or Christmas in July, has enriched our school. We are truly blessed to work with families who value Christian education and building community.

I am also thankful to our School Board; this dedicated group who lead and guide the strategic direction of Leighland Christian School. They give tirelessly of their time and talents to ensure we remain true to the vision, mission and core values of the school. This year, we farewell our Executive Principal, Natasha Mackinnon, as she prepares to finish her time here to begin a new chapter at Plenty Valley Christian School in Victoria, and we wish her nothing but God’s richest blessings in this new season.

As the year draws to a close, thank you once again for partnering with us. To commemorate this, I warmly invite you to join us at the Celebration Service on Monday 8 December. We will delve into our theme the Goodness of God and highlight the many wonderful things that have taken place on the Burnie Campus over 2025.

May your Christmas be filled with hope and thankfulness for the birth of our Saviour, and may your holiday break bring rest, connection and renewal.

On behalf of myself and the staff, I wish all our families a joyful Christmas, a blessed New Year and we look forward to seeing you again in 2026.
