YEAR 8 GREAT AUSSIE
BUSH CAMP

On Monday 9th December, 25 students from Year 8 and 3 staff embarked on the journey to Great Aussie Bush Camp, Tea Gardens. The 3 o’clock in the morning start and 5-and-a-half-hour road trip did not deplete the energy of the students, as they arrived ready for the first activities –Canoeing and the Giant Swing. In the evening, the students participated in a game of Spotlight in the bush, which was approached enthusiastically.
Day 2 at the camp the students were taken to the Mungobrush sand dunes, followed by a trip to Jimmy’s Beach to cool off. In the afternoon, the students participated in a High Ropes course and a Mud Run, which continued to be the highlight of the day. After dinner, students teamed up to compete in Trivia, which came with a few surprise activities, like musical chairs and a trash bag fashion parade.
On the last day, Year 8 were given the opportunity to do more height related activities, Rock Climbing and the Power Fan. While tired, the students still participated in these activities before having to say goodbye to the two amazing camp instructors, Ryan and Kenny. The drive back was peaceful and allowed students to rest before arriving back on Wednesday 11th, raving about the fun that they had.
The students are to be commended for their efforts on camp. Every student had a go at least at one height activity and supporting each other throughout. A huge thank you is also to be given to Miss Somerfield for organising the camp, and to Miss Auld, Ms Harrington and Mr Hinke for supporting the students.
