AROUND THE SCHOOL

FRENCH DAY
Bonjour tout le monde
French Day is just around the corner on Friday, November 28.
We’re inviting all children (and staff!) to get creative and dress up as something fabulously French! Here are some fun ideas: be a stylish French citizen, sport a chic beret, rock the colours of the French flag, transform into a delightful snail, a crispy French fry, a classic baguette, Napoleon, Coco Chanel, the Eiffel Tower, Marie Curie, a charming cat, or a playful French poodle!
Join us for a lively parade and the annual snail race happening in the gymnasium during morning assembly at 9:00 am. Following assembly, you are invited to an exhibition of student's work in the Centre Pompidou located in the Conference Room. It’s going to be a blast, and we can’t wait to see all the fantastic costumes!
Keep an eye out for a note that went home with a yummy list of free food available for the children on the big day. Make sure to read it carefully and send it back to school!
Let’s make this French Day unforgettable! 🎈🥖🐌

CHRISTIAN HEROS IN OUR COMMUNITIES
Grade 5 students wrote about their christisan heros in our community this week. Here are a few.
My Christian hero is my soccer coach, Ian.
He shows Christian values by always pushing everyone on my team to put everything in. Also he is always helping people to get better at soccer.
He inspires me because he always tries to do the right thing and always tries his best to follow all the rules. He also inspires me by volunteering to coach, so kids like me can have a go and play sports like soccer. Overall he is a great person and a Christian hero.

My Christian hero is Sharon,
He shows Christian values by helping out at church, by doing the powerpoint presentations and he is really close to God.
He inspires me because when I grow up I want to be closer to God just like Sharon.
He is really nice and helps out kids at St Laurence’s school and he also helps the teachers out too.
He is a part of the Pastoral Counsel and he is a member of the church.
He is a good person and a true role model for all the kids at St Laurence's.

My Christian hero is Deanna.
The reason she is my Christian hero is because she visits the elderly home. She does a lot for the church by singing, projecting slides and plays guitar most weeks. She helps me and my dad with the kids Mass. She even gives up her time to help with extra days at Mass. She helps with technology at our church. She helps set up before Mass by turning on the microphones and the computer.

My Christian hero is Ms Wright.
She helps out at the church and never doubts anyone with how they look. She always makes everyone feel welcome and liked. What she does that shows Christian values is by helping people with kindness, generosity and love. She also shows the fruits of the Holy Spirit and believes in others. She inspires me by her kindness and manners to all and I definitely believe that she is truly a Christian hero.

My Christian hero is Chelsea Launder.
because she helps everyone even if she doesn’t know them. She will stand up for what she believes in. Chelsea is really honest and will be honest even if it might get her into trouble. She inspires me to be myself and help people in need even if I’m not friends with them. She once even tried to stand up for her friend, even though she made them a bit angry, she stood her ground to help her friend. She is a great person and even better friend and I am so lucky to have her.
