This term St Aidan’s will come together for Family Parish Mass at the Holy Family Church this Sunday 3rd March at 9:30 am. There will be a morning tea to follow. We welcome all of our families and friends to join us. Students will be performing a small song to end the Mass.
St Aidan’s celebrated Shrove Tuesday with plenty of delicious pancakes. Pancakes are eaten on this day as they were seen as a special indulgence before the 40 days of fasting during Lent.
Thank you to those parents who helped organise the pancake morning tea and a special thank you to all those families who donated to Project Compassion. So far we have over $212 to donate!
St Aidan's attended Mass on Ash Wednesday which signified the start of the Season of Lent. It was wonderful to see the entire Holy Family Church filled with students, families and parishioners.
St Aidan’s will again be supporting the wonderful work of Caritas Australia through Project Compassion. Your generous support can help to change the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. Join us this Lent to raise much-needed funds for people living in poverty. Together, we can make a difference now, and for all future generations.
For more information on Project Compassion, please see here.
St Aidan’s will be running some fundraising events throughout Lent. Details for these events will be shared with families in the coming weeks:
1. Splash of Purple Mufti Day
All students are invited to wear a splash of purple tomorrow, Tuesday 27th Feburary. Please bring a gold coin donation for Project Compassion.
2. Purple Lolly Guessing Compition
All students will have the opportunity to guess how many lollies in the jar in during Week 5 Monday 4th March to Friday 8th March. 1 guess for 50c and 3 guesses for $1.
3. Fish Finger Fun Day
All students are invited to order a fish finger lunch order in Week 6 to raise money for Project Compassion. Order form to follow.
4. The Longest Line
In Week 7 students will be invited to bring in loose change for the class competition of "The Longest Line". Which class will make the longest line? Only time will tell!
All students in Years 6 are welcome to join St Aidan’s Mini Vinnies. Mini Vinnies empowers primary school students to become advocates within their school and local community by putting their values into action. They meet regularly to learn about social justice issues, develop leadership skills and engage with the wider St Vincent de Paul Society.
This term the Mini Vinnies students will be working to plan, support and lead the Project Compassion initiatives.
The students at St Aidans love class visits from our parish priests. Last week, Kindergarten were lucky enough to, not only have Father Allan visit their class, but he also brought his guitar and taught them a song about God's great family!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
