Dear Parents and Carers,
We have now entered the season of Lent. The students and staff of St Aidan's celebrated the start of the season with pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and the whole school attended Mass on Ash Wednesday led by Fr Allan and Fr Rafael.
Lent is the time of year when we prepare for Easter. We know that during this time Jesus spent forty days in the desert. He was filled with the Holy Spirit, He prayed and He fasted. Jesus spent this time thinking about the good things God wanted him to do. As followers of Christ we can use this time of Lent to pray, make sacrifices and think of how we too can do the things that God wants us to do.
"God, may Your light guide my day,
and your spirit bring me peace.
Amen"
St Aidan's Open Day is next Tuesday 5 March from 9.30-11am and 4.30-6pm. Please spread the word about our amazing school and our up coming Open Day. Year 6 students will be proudly leading our school tours on the day. Thank you to those families who have delivered flyers advertising our Open Day. If you would like to deliver more flyers please see our office staff.
SCS Executive Director Mr Tony Farley will be visiting St Aidan's on Monday the 11th March. The assembly will change for this day only and will begin at 9.30am on the back playground to accomodate for Mr Farley's schedule. Parents and carers are welcome to attend.
Our school captains will begin the assembly with an acknowledgement of country, our school prayer and an address to Mr Farley. Our school Choir and our Senior Showgroup will then peform and the assembly will end with Mr Farley addressing the school. We therefore have limited time and will not be presenting awards or birthday certificates at this assembly. Double awards and birthdays certificates will be presented at the assembly the following week.
Our staff and students are excited that Mr Farley will also be touring the school after the assembly and visiting each classroom to speak with the students. We have prepared a small snapshot of the amazing learning and creativity that happens here at St Aidan's for Mr Farley.
At St Aidan’s our Homework Statement of Practice encourages and fosters student’s ownership of their learning both in and out of the classroom. The focus for each student is to consolidate learning, develop fluency and work towards their individual learning goals.
Last Monday students received their homework book with a homework matrix. Homework will be sent home fortnightly for students in Years 1-6 and weekly for students in Kindergarten.
If you have any questions relating to your child’s homework please discuss this with your child’s teacher at your child’s goal setting meeting this week.
Have a lovely week!
Warm regards,
Rachel Baker
Principal
