Welcome to our first newsletter for the year! Congratulations to all our students for such a positive start to the term. It has been wonderful to see everyone in uniform and engaging so well in their lessons and the routine of school.
Once again, we are incredibly fortunate to be fully staffed, with casual teachers available when required. Our new teachers, Mr Lachlan Douglas (History) and Ms Kelly Robson (Support) have settled in extremely well and already it feels as if they have been here for much longer than a few weeks! We are also extremely lucky to have Amorette, Dylan and Sarah as additional SLSO's (teacher aides) to provide even more support to our students.
Our swimming carnival was a great success! Despite the rain and the cold, the enthusiasm, effort, fun and cooperation was amazing! There was a real buzz and energy about the day. A huge thank you to Mr Craig Cook and all the staff for ensuring the day ran so smoothly. Inside are the details of the winning house and the age champions and runners-up. A special mention to Annie Potter and Pippa Koch for breaking records!
All students have now received their assessment booklets. These outline when all assessments are due for the year and should be used to help students plan their time effectively. These are also available on the student portal. Assessments are more likely to occur towards the end of the term (so students can be assessed on what they've learnt) and it is, therefore, unavoidable, that there will be some weeks where quite a few assessments are due at the same time. If at any time your child is becoming overwhelmed by assessments, please reach out to their Year Advisor so that support can be put in place.
As you can see by this edition, it has been a very busy start to the year! Congratulations to our students who have already represented THS as part of the Agricultural Show Team in Glen Innes as well as those who went to Inverell for Touch Football. Their behaviour and effort were exemplary. Please keep following us on Facebook to see more of the many and varied opportunities THS provides!
