A note from Mr Jackson
Prior to uncovering 2024, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the remarkable achievement of students and teachers revealed in NAPLAN data recently released. NAPLAN Relative Growth Data tracks student learning growth between Yr3 and Yr5 compared to other students achievement in Yr3. It focuses on the areas of Reading and Numeracy.
The results celebrate the significant improvement of our students in both areas!
In Reading, students achieved well beyond the learning growth experienced by the state. Results at Rosanna Primary were also beyond the leaning growth experienced by similar schools!
In Numeracy, many know of the significant investment we have made in professional learning around mathematics over the last strategic plan. This tremendous effort by our whole community has resulted in significant improvement from Yr3 to Yr5 students. Our results indicate that we are well above the learning growth experienced by the state and significantly higher than similar schools (14% higher). This is a remarkable achievement and is worthy of celebration.
Welcome Students
It has been wonderful to have students enter into their new learning communities so quickly. Our thanks to parents for preparing for their return and helping make the transition so smoothly. During these initial weeks students will be participating in the 2024 StartUp program. This is a chance for classes to develop norms and build learning relationships within their clasrooms. We look forward to the days ahead.
Welcome Preps and Their Families
Today, our cohort of new Prep students and their parents arrived to begin their first day of Primary Education. The Prep team warmly welcomed them and parents enjoyed a coffee and morning tea hosted by our FORPS team. Thanks to all who have made the transition thus far so smoothly! Our Year 6 buddies have spent some enjoyable time with their Prep buddies over recess and lunch. They will continue to ensure our newest students are welcomed warmly into our community. We hope that our Prep carers have a chance to draw a breath and celebrate this significant life transition.

Holiday Upgrades
Many have raised their eyebrows and smiled while one of our students was found sleeping on the new carpet installed in the southern end of the Administration building. Parents may be aware of extensive work in pinning the foundation of the admin building last year. These maintenance works will continue this year on the northern end. Once our elderly building has been levelled, carpeting will continue throughout the northern end of the building.
Painting through the admin corridor, smaller offices, student toilets, library and classroom windows has freshened up the spaces.
Again, thanks to our group of multiaged blowers on the weekend. They left the site safe and clean and ready to start the day. Many hands have helped us out again!
Label Everything! (Except Your Child)
I encourage parents to label everything. Containers, lids of containers, drink bottles, spoons, hats, bags, pencils, and anything else they might bring. We are always eager to reunite lost property with their owners. Your support in this process is greatly appreciated.
In cooler mornings followed by warmer days jumpers can often be discarded and left in the playground. If the clothing item is unnamed, it is sent to the lost property cupboard located outside the student toilets in the admin block. Ask at the office if you are on the hunt for lost items. A unique Prep Lost Property tub is located in the Prep area.
Students who bring special items to school are often saddened when these items go missing. It may be a stuffed toy, heroic figurine or even a precious memento. I encourage students to reconsider bringing such ‘valuable’ items to school or if they do, to ensure such items are looked after thoughtfully.
Coming Up: Parent Teacher Interviews
Please make sure that you are available on the afternoon of Tuesday 13 February. Further information will be published on Compass shortly inviting you to participate in a ‘Meet the Teacher’ interview. Although these are brief meetings, they are an important opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and share any important information. A brief survey will enable us to make the most of this meeting. Bookings will be open from 6:00pm on Friday 2 February. Stay glued to Compass for more information!
Coming Up: Curriculum Day Planned for Wednesday 20 March
On Monday, teachers met and prepared for the coming year. While many of our staff have been onsite during their holidays to sort rooms and begin developing resources, Monday was an opportunity to explore a range of common whole school organisational practices and occupational health and safety strategies.
Our next Curriculum Day is on Wednesday 20 March this term. Staff will be exploring the development of Reading and continue to ensure our practices are consistent across the school and align with the most current research. No students will be onsite at this time, unless they are attending the TheirCare Program that will be providing a program for the day. You are welcome to register your child to attend on this day.

Mobile Phone Policy Reminder
A reminder that all student mobile phones should be switched off and taken to the office prior to the start of school. They will be stored securely and can be picked up at the end of the school day.
Festival of Consent Documentation!
On Monday we will be inviting you to sign a wide range of information. We are always eager to make this as easy as possible for parents and staff to sign and process. For this reason parents may choose to sign and complete the information online through QKR!
