What's Happening In Secondary

Week One of 2024 has dawned upon us, bringing with it a sense of anticipation and excitement as we embark on this new chapter together. I trust you all had a restful break and are ready to dive back into the rhythm of school life.

As tradition dictates, we began our first day back with a moment of reflection. It is a pause before the hustle and bustle of the year begins—a chance for us to contemplate what we wish to see differently in the coming months. We pondered whether there are things we need to let go of—perhaps a hurt, a tension, or a habit—and whether we need to be intentional about our plans for the year. It is a big ask, especially for our new Year 7 students,  but it is an important step in setting the tone for the year ahead. It requires us all to step up from the first second, to examine ourselves, our actions and our motivations. It was a special moment of unity as a community, committing the year ahead to Him.

This year, due to our increasing student numbers, we are thrilled to offer more option classes than ever before. On Friday we kicked off with an array of options including: Cooking—Global Cuisines; Material—Pallet Redesign; Music—Band; Hair and Beauty and Graphic Design. These classes not only provide opportunities for students to delve into their passions, but also foster creativity and innovation. Our staffing model of having experts in their field meant that we had a graphic designer, chef and carpenter in the respective options, meaning our students are been assisted by real world experts.
