L.O.T.E. - German

Guten Tag!
In German class, students have been learning the German alphabet and discovering that many letters sound similar to their English counterparts. One of the classes’ favourites has been the letter “Y”, which is called Ypsilon in German.
Students also completed an alphabet activity where they identified German words around the classroom that begin with different letters, such as Affe (monkey), Banane (banana), and Chamäleon (chameleon).
Younger students participated in a weather-themed scavenger hunt in the LOTE classroom, where they searched for and recognised a range of German weather vocabulary, including Regen (rain), Sonne (sun), Wind (wind), and Gewitter (thunderstorm).
I am incredibly proud of the way our students have embraced learning a new language. Across all year levels, students have shown great enthusiasm while learning new vocabulary and using it confidently in games and classroom activities. It has been wonderful to see everyone willing to give things a go and developing confidence in pronouncing German words without hesitation.
We are currently planning a German Day for Tuesday, 8th of September 2026. If any parents would like to help with any activities or have ideas that they would like to contribute, please contact me via Dojo!
Bis bald!
Lena
