VIS guest speaker

At the end of term 1 the year 5 students had a visit from Trinity Woodward who is an Under 21 Australian Hockey player. This was part of the Victorian Institute of Sport Be Fit Be Well program. This program allows athletes to share their stories with future stars. Trinity shared the challenges she has overcome including injuries and moving interstate on her own as a 15 year old to pursue her career.

The students loved listening to her story and even shared some of their own personal goals both on and off the sporting field.

We look forward to following Trinity’s journey as she aims to make the Hockeyroos squad for upcoming international events.

Year 3 & 4 Swimming Program

A few weeks ago our year 3 and 4 students participated in their 5 day Swimming and Water Safety program at Casey RACE. This program enhances the children’s ability to stay safe around water along with providing them with skills required to survive in the water. Students also develop independence at getting themselves dressed and taking care of their belongings.

The students are to be commended for their behaviour during the program with the school receiving positive feedback from the swim teachers.

Year 6 Basketball Clinic

Our year 6 students were lucky enough to have Cranbourne Secondary school students come and conduct basketball skills sessions during their P.E lesson. The students were part of the school's Basketball Academy which provides additional training both on and off the court for upcoming athletes. With Secondary school not too far away for our year 6 students it gave them insights into programs that various schools in our area offer.

Wellbeing & Social Learning Update

It has been a positive and engaging start to the term across all year levels, with students building important skills in emotional awareness, communication, and teamwork.

Foundation

Our youngest learners have begun exploring the Zones of Regulation. They are learning to name their emotions and recognise what their bodies might look and feel like when they are experiencing different emotions such as sadness, happiness, calmness, fear, or anger. This foundational work supports students in developing self-awareness and early regulation strategies.

This includes learning to pause, listen to their bodies and others, and read body language and social cues. They have also been discussing how to make safe choices when experiencing big emotions. Additionally, classes have explored the concepts of safe bodies, personal boundaries, and the difference between safe and unsafe secrets.
