Athletics Carnival

House Spirit and Standout Performances at the 2026 Athletics Carnival
The 2026 Athletics Carnival was one of the strongest we’ve seen in recent years, with fantastic weather, huge House spirit and outstanding involvement from students across the day.
Competition across both track and field was incredibly strong, with students producing some outstanding performances throughout the carnival and many long-standing school records being broken across a range of events and age groups. You can see the full list of our 2026 record breakers at the end of this article, including Esme A, featured here in one of our post-event interviews:
A special congratulations goes to Eloise S from Lake, who finished the day as the overall individual champion after an incredible carnival across both track and field events.
Away from the athletics itself, one of the highlights of the carnival was seeing so many students getting involved in everything happening around the venue. The House Chant competition brought huge energy to the day, with all four Houses getting behind their colours and creating a brilliant atmosphere throughout the carnival. Congratulations to Pentridge for taking out Best House Chant, while Merri claimed the House Attendance Challenge with an impressive 72% attendance on the day. Bell also had some incredibly strong athletic performances, particularly in the senior sprint events, while Lake’s consistency across both track and field ultimately saw them crowned our 2026 Athletics House Champions.
The Entrepreneurs Club carnival games were busy all day, students crowded around the ‘Guess the Teacher’ boards debating staff identities and comparing answers, and ‘Gary Says’ somehow went on for an impressively long time, proving we have some seriously good listeners at CHS!
Staff were impressed by the way students represented themselves and their Houses throughout the carnival. The participation, encouragement and positive energy across the day helped create a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish, with students showing a great deal of maturity and respect throughout the event.
