Year 3-6 Athletics Carnival

Congratulations to all students on their participation at today's Cluster Athletics. There was a great atmosphere around the carnival, with students, parents and staff working seamlessly together across the four schools.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers and staff for their support in making the day such a great success. We really appreciate the time and effort that went into ensuring our tracks were marked up and the events and BBQ all ran smoothly. In particular, Priscilla, Lisa, Scott, Benni, Allison, Chris, Emily, Georgie, Sam, Stefan and Sheepy, thankyou!

Please see the Sport/PE page of the newsletter for more photos from the carnival.

Today, members of the Melbourne Football Club's AFLW team, also spent time with our Prep - 2 students.  This was a particularly exciting day for the football fans, and our students had fun practising their skills and getting to speak with some professional players.

As a thank you for hosting the MFC, free tickets are being offered, to attend some home games.

ES Day!

Tomorrow, 16th May is Education Support (ES) Personnel Day!  We greatly value our ES staff and would like to acknowledge the important role they play in our school.  We will be celebrating this next week, and encourage families and students to give a shout out to our staff who contribute so much to our student's learning and well-being. To Mary, Erin, Megan, Angela, Michelle, Bron and Kylie, thank you for everything you do!

Intergenerational Gardening

During this week's Intergenerational Gardening session, a group of Year 4/5 spent time getting to meet the community participants and learn about the new gardens. They found that the new seedlings are progressing well and, it was exciting to see some of the seeds were also sprouting!  After doing some quick measuring, students delved into the science behind composting, and made quick work of assembling two new compost bins!

Year 5/6 Camp

On Monday, year 5/6 students will depart for camp, at Wilsons Prom.  This is a fantastic opportunity and students will spend time exploring the environment, spotting wildlife in the bush, and peering into the world of rock pools as well as learning the basic skills of surfing!  The bus will depart at 7.30am and students need to be ready, at school, no later than 7.15am.

Tree Planting

Next Thursday, a group of students in Year 3 and 4 will walk to the Pebble Beach swimming hole to assist with planting 85 tube stock plants.  The plants will be protected with tree guards, which all students in Prep-4 will decorate ahead of time.  Once in place, students are encouraged to explore the new garden, with their families, and to locate their artworks.

Walk Safely to School Day

WE’RE TAKING IT IN OUR STRIDE ON FRIDAY 22 MAY 2026

Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. And although walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many of us, it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily routine. If you have to drive, park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way. Regular exercise like walking with your child not only helps them (and you!) to support better health outcomes, it also gives you a great opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic. Remember, Active Kids are Healthy Kids so get planning your own Walk Safely to School Day journey for Friday 22 MAY 2026! For more information, visit www.walk.com.au

This term, our school council fundraising committee is planning a ‘High County Winter Experience’ themed raffle. We are hoping to offer some great prizes from local businesses that appeal to school families and friends within and beyond the local community to extend our fundraising reach. Our Term 2 fundraising efforts will go towards upgrading our fleet of student laptops.

We invite school families to get involved by contributing to our fundraising committee. Please drop past our School Office to find out more.

Alternatively, you may like to partner with a local business to offer a gift voucher in keeping with the Winter Experience theme.

Thank you to Cunningham, Taylor, Gardiner and Travers families for getting the ball rolling with donations towards some great items!

The raffle will run throughout May and be drawn at the start of June, coinciding with the opening of the ski season. Donations gratefully accepted until 30 April 2026.
