Equestrian

Nerrida Prosser

We’ve had another successful few weeks at the Equestrian Centre. Fiona Normand revisited on Saturday and continued working with our students on flatwork as well as some in-hand instruction. As an adult, I’m always amazed at just how flexible our students are in their approach to riding and how visible their learning progress is, just in the space of one lesson. Whilst I watch, I often think about just how impactful skills-based instruction is and I’m reminded of how useful small, immediate wins are in both on the horse and in the classroom.

For students who really enjoy their lessons with Fiona, we will host her again on Saturday, 25 November and potentially find a December date if we have enough interest.

Looking forward, we still have the Adam Wooten and Susie Walker clinics coming up.

Adam Wooten is the Managing Director of the Australian Sporting Equine Academy and has been in the showjumping industry for over 20 years. He has spent time all over the world competing and training including in the United States under the tuition of George Morris, Canada, New Zealand, and Europe. Adam assists many leading showjumpers and eventers within their training and is also currently coaching the EA Young Rider Showjumping Squad, the Jumping Ahead Training Group, used as Showjumping coach to the SOF/YR Eventing Squad and is N.C.A.S. qualified.

We will host Adam at College on Saturday 7 October and non-school riders are invited. A private Lesson $160 (THAC $130) and shared (3 riders) $55 (THAC $45). Lesson for Adam can be booked via Adam Wooten Clinic | Humanitix

Susie Walker is a Licensed Level 1 Teacher in the International School of Lightness – Ecole de Légèreté founded by French Classical Master Philippe Karl. Légèreté is classical equitation at its finest. A logical and ethical concept of training. It is based on a deep knowledge of the horse and a philosophy of ease that seriously takes into account the horse’s nature, psychology, anatomy, locomotion, and biomechanics. Ecole de Légèreté rejects the use of force and has the utmost respect for the horse at its core. We will host Susie on November 4 and 5 (Long Weekend) and again, welcome non-school riders (including adults). This is definitely a clinic not to be missed! Bookings can be made at Susie Walker LÉGÈRETÉ Clinic | Humanitix

Interschool Competition

Finally, this year we look to reinstate our Interschool Competition that has previously been held in December. In order to get this off the ground, we are asking families who think they may have some time to spare on the day to touch base and let us know if they can volunteer. If you’re keen and available, we’d love to hear from you!

Until next time,

Happy Riding
