We continue to pray for our Confirmation Candidates

Family Faith Night

Our family faith night is about asking our families to be together and to reflect together upon the wonders of Holy Spirit - how the Holy Spirit bestows upon us Gifts and when we utilise these gifts we also produce Fruits.

Read about the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit and how they work in us from the Catechism of the Catholic Church here.

Senior School Mass

On Sunday 27 August 5:30pm we will celebrate Mass with the St Mary’s Parishioners. During the Mass there will be a special blessing given to our Confirmation Candidates and our Senior School will be able to show some leadership by reading and participating in the Mass. We encourage as many families as possible to attend this Mass, especially to pray for our year 6’s who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Confirmation Reflection Day

On Friday 8th September the year 6 students will gather to spend a day in retreat. Students in year 6 may come to school in respectful casual attire and will have the opportunity to pray together, attend Mass, spend some social time with a tasty lunch as well as ask questions and learn from Bishop Tony Ireland. We look forward to this occasion. If you are interested in helping us out to make this day extra special for our year 6 students by helping with the BBQ please contact jes.earle@smstkildaeast.catholic.edu.au and specify that you would like to help us with the Reflection Day or speak with Ms Denise Santamaria to express interest.

Confirmation itself!

The students in year 6 have chosen a Saint as their patron and studied the life and legacy of the saints. They will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday 14th September in the evening. Please pray for them, their sponsors, and their families!

Thank you for a Beautiful Assumption Mass

Thank you to Father Jerome for a very special and beautiful Mass for the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady. Father shared with the students prior to this Mass as well as during the Mass the importance of lifting up our hearts to the Lord and its meaning. When we lift up our hearts - we are lifting up our lives but also giving our love back to Love itself - back to God! It was very special to see the Church full with the whole school. Thank you to the staff for preparing the students for this event.

Staff receive Professional Development from Fr Jerome

Staff at St Mary’s Primary School and at St Mary’s College gathered in the year 6 classroom on Tuesday to learn about ‘Swimming in Scripture’ from Father Jerome. The session was much appreciated by all at both schools as Father explored the deeper meaning behind the study of Scripture. It was a wonderful chance to work together with our neighbouring school in partnership and we look forward to our next illuminating session next week where we begin to explore practical techniques for sharing and teaching Scripture in our classrooms.

Father Jerome is a wonderful resource offering his time to give this lecture - his knowledge and wisdom met with us and extended us. Thank you, Father, for offering your time to speak with us!

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
