From the Assistant Principal
PARENT PD
I would really like to highlight the Parent PD (see below) around supporting children with anxiety that Adele has organised for early next term. It is the same presenter who delivered Professional Learning to staff around the same topic on our Curriculum day in Term 2. We have been fortunate enough that we have received Department funding to support Student Mental Health and Wellbeing which is covering the costs of this valuable workshop. We feel that this topic early in Term 4 is very timely for parents to help support their child/ren with the changes that naturally come with transitioning out of one grade level and class into a new grade and class teacher in the following school year. But it is also important to note here that anxiety is completely normal for us all to experience at some points in our lives, and can even help us prepare for certain events. Experiencing moments of anxiousness can also help us better manage these feelings should similar situations arise again as we remind ourselves that we can, and have, overcome our fears and worries before. It is when anxiety begins to impact our daily lives that it becomes more problematic for little minds. The above workshop for parents will look at anxiety in both of these contexts.
This is a whole school event and we look forward to seeing many of our families attend from across the school. We will also extend the invitation to our new Foundation families who will be joining our school community in 2024 and who will be starting their Orientation program next term.
