Sustainability

What is Sustainability?

In case you didn't know, it is when you are saving food, recycling and lots more. It is important that we only use what we need to use from our earth.  Just like the Indigenous Australian and Torres Strait Islanders. We need to follow their example.  They can be role models, as they have been loved in our world for over 65,000 years.

At St Kevin’s to become more sustainable, we have been working on a chicken coop. This project will be going for the rest of the year. We need to get permission from the Manningham Council to complete this project. I hope that all students can have an opportunity to learn from this experience. During inquiry we talked about how to be sustainable and have been working on and how to make our school sustainable. I hope this information helps inform you about the learning St Kevin's!

At St Kevin’s the Grade 5/6 Students have been working on the worm farm and growing plants in our gardens. Everyone has been having fun participating in this experience of gardening. Most of the students have had experience with gardening at home. I hope that this experience goes well, so that the students in our class will be more sustainable. We practise recycling at our school instead of littering. I strongly believe that we could help out our planet even more than what we are doing now.
