YEAR 11 BUSINESS MANAGEMENT STUDENTS TURN ENTREPRENEURS FOR A DAY

MS MONIQUE WATT - CURRICULUM LEADER HUMANIT

On Tuesday, 29th August, the grounds of our school transformed into a bustling marketplace, all thanks to our enterprising Year 11 Business Management students. As part of their marketing area of study, students not only learned the theoretical aspects of business but were given the exciting challenge of setting up and running their own small businesses during lunchtime.

The atmosphere was vibrant and echoed with enthusiasm as students hustled to woo the hungry and curious customers. They showcased their creativity, business acumen, and marketing skills, turning lessons from the classroom into real-life experience.

The Mini Enterprises included sales of Spiders, slices, hot dogs, slices and biscuits, cupcakes, and a car wash. While the event was a great learning experience for the students, at the heart of it all was a noble cause. All the proceeds collected from these mini business ventures will be donated to charities chosen by the students. This initiative not only teaches them about business management but also instils in them the values of giving back to society.

The success of the event underscored the importance of hands-on learning. While theoretical knowledge is essential, applying those principles in a real-world setting provides students with invaluable experiences. Challenges faced, decisions made on-the-spot, teamwork, and handling real money – these are experiences that books alone cannot provide.

We extend our heartiest congratulations to the Year 11 Business Management class for their successful venture and commend their spirit of entrepreneurship. Their drive made this day an unforgettable experience. We look forward to more such innovative endeavours in the future!
