Reading

CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Reading this week, we are continuing to learn how to synthesise new information.

VOCABULARY

Synthesise: use prior knowledge, inferring, and new information to change / deepen your understanding.

Prior knowledge: what your child already knows / understands about a topic.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Show your child an article or a book. Ask them what they already know about the topic. Once you’ve read the article or book with them, ask them what new information was introduced as they read and how this changed their opinion, or ideas, on the topic.
