Principal's Report
Our Musical is Coming Up!
I have been lucky enough to see rehearsals of our 2023 musical BIG! It is coming along nicely and remains one of the highlights of the year. Mr Flynn has sent out ticketing information and I will stress that all families need to follow the expectations set out in Mr Flynn’s communication. It is essential that no family miss out on seeing their child perform because another family has not followed the expectations. So, I ask that everyone does the right thing!
Tickets are on sale from 22nd August.
2023 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey
(different to the one we sent out 2 weeks ago)
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. All families are invited to participate in the survey. You will receive an invitation by email with details on how to participate. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from now to Friday 8 September 2023. The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Survey results are communicated to parents / caregivers / guardians through our schools annual reporting process.
Last year we used the survey results to plan a key improvement strategy in our Annual Implementation Plan and a team at school has been working on community engagement in response to survey results.
Book Week/Book Fair Next Week
The book fair is coming back to LPS. This is an amazing opportunity to get your hands on some wonderful literature. It has been a fantastic fundraiser for the school over the past few years.
The great thing is…..it coincides with our book week parade. Last year was the best book parade I have ever seen! Let’s see if we can make it even better this year. Get your costumes ready! I thank Ms Soutar for all her work organising the book fair and book week!
Orange Friday!
Don’t forget to wear as much orange as you can tomorrow. As a school we are taking a stand against bullying and violence in what is the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.
On a personal note, I’ll be taking the last 3 weeks of the term off to care for a sick family member. I do hope to see you all at the musical. Mrs Pepper will be acting in my position.
Have a great fortnight,
Mr Moorhouse
