The year 5 and 6s have been working in groups to create their own 5-10 minute fitness workout. After investigating and trialling various resources and skills they were able to complete their program. Groups are currently enjoying the chance to be instructors while groups of students participate in their fitness workout.
Achievement Highlight
A big congratulations to Leela for competing in the Regional Athletics. Leela competed in the U9/10 high jump competition on Thursday 19 October at the Doncaster Athletics Track. We are very proud of her achievements.
The year 2's have been working on an observational drawing activity. The students were challenged to draw four different shaped seashells. They then coloured the shells adding details to add texture and interest. The students were encouraged to think about the size and placement of their shells to ensure that a balanced image was created. The background was painted with watercolour paint, when painting the water, the students were encouraged to think about using more than one colour to create an illusion of movement and depth.
Here are the paragraphs translated by Erin B and Lynn in Grade 5/6S. They did an amazing work...
Continuing on from the preps' session where we looked at the broken broom from the book, Room on the Broom, the preps had a great session 'fixing' their brooms. We discovered that duct tape and masking tape fix the brooms really well, but a glue-stick doesn't work so well!
The grade 1s and 2s have been doing some really good team work over the last past two weeks and have investigated the positives and negatives of some of the products, services or environments around our school. They will start to redesign something of their choice to make it better.
The grade 3s have been making storyboards to show what happens to water, oil, metal spoons, or chocolate buds when they are warmed up, cooled down and frozen. They have also been presenting their homework on what they witnessed melting at home. Well done to those who have already brought their observations in.
The grade 5/6 classes continue to investigate the different evidence left in the STEAM room. First, they conducted an experiment to see how long it would take for 2ml of water to evaporate - answer, longer than a STEAM lesson! Next they investigated how much salt can go into water before it no longer dissolves.
There were 2 more pieces of evidence left in the STEAM room to help the students figure out who committed the mess crime in the STEAM room. It is fantastic to see the whole school involved and following along with the clues.
