Principal's Report

Dear Parents,
Today is World Teacher's Day, a day dedicated to recognising the remarkable contributions of educators worldwide. We are so lucky to have an amazing group of dedicated teachers here at St. Finbar's. Not only do they prepare and teach engaging lessons each day, they genuinely care for the wellbeing of each student and keen for them to reach their full potential. We are immensely proud of our teachers, and the lasting impact they have on the lives of our students.
Welcome to our new students
We welcome two new students to our community this term. Samuel has joined Prep F and Max has joined 4M.
Upcoming events
Once again, we have a busy few weeks of events happening at St Finbar's. Our Year 3 students have started the term with their camp, which was very successful albeit a bit damp. Year 5 head off to Waratah Bay next week and Year 4 to Glenmore the following week. Our Year 6 students are right in the midst of preparations for their upcoming Confirmation; Mr Anderson has more details about this on the Religious Education page.
Principal Appointment Process
Please see the following message from Simon Fitzpatrick at MACS regarding the upcoming Principal appointment process:
Principal Appointment
The process for the appointment of the new principal for our school has commenced. The panel formed with this responsibility is:
- Father Ian (Parish Priest)
- Ms. Wendy Sullivan (Experienced Principal)
- Caitlin Chaponnel (Parent Rep)
- James Davies (Parent Rep)
- Simon Fitzpatrick (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools)
It is important that we respect the confidentiality of the process.
The position has been advertised this weekend. Applications will close on Monday October 23. Finally, we pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in this next exciting chapter in the life of our community.
Hats
All students are now expected to wear their school hats out on the playground. Hats can be purchased from the Uniform Shop for $15. Any student who does not have a school hat will need to stay in the shaded area on the grassy steps or at the tables in the outdoor classroom. This is in line with our sun-smart school policy - 'No Hat - No Play.'
Whilst we are on the subject of uniform, I remind everyone that the only jewellery permitted is a watch (not a Smartwatch) , small sleeper/stud earrings and/or a cross on a chain. Nail polish is not to be worn at school.
Australian Girls Choir
The Australian Girls' Choir is visiting St Finbar's next Friday for auditions. If you are interested in your daughter auditioning please return the permission slip that has been brought home today by next Wednesday.

Acting Principal
