R U OK Day

R U OK? Day is an annual event held in Australia and we are so proud to host our first of many here at Wollert. The primary goal is to raise awareness about mental health and encourage genuine conversations. It's a day to ask friends, family, and colleagues the simple but important question: "R U OK?" and remind ourselves and those around us that it is ok to ask for help.

To raise awareness, Wollert students wore yellow, engaged in a range of activities including a Lego building workshop, volleyball and soccer competitions and mindful art before sharing a BBQ lunch with each other. Most importantly, students took the time to ask each other and reflect on their own wellbeing by asking RUOK?

R U OK? Day is not just a one-day event; it's an ongoing commitment to supporting mental health and well-being in our school community. We strive to create a culture where staff and students feel comfortable discussing their mental health and seeking help when needed.

At Wollert Secondary College we were fortunate to have received a YouthFest Grant from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. The funds were used to bring in external facilitators who ran team building and educational activities for students.
