Assistant Principals' Reflection
Term 3 has been a very exciting and busy term, with our students embarking on new subjects, and also stepping up in terms of responsibility. In new subjects, Visual Art and Digital Technology, students have been nominated as ‘experts’ and will assist their peers, sharing their knowledge and helping them to problem solve. We have also been able to take our students on several excursions which have required independence, including walking tours of the city and visiting the local Polytechnic campus.
On the Student Voice and Wellbeing front, our focus this term has been on kindness, and create safe and respectful spaces. We have been “blitzing” Green Flags when we see Acts of Kindness, and have been proud of the way our students have shown respect to people with different opinions and beliefs. Wear it Purple was an example of this, where all students in attendance were kind and respectful, and enjoyed engaging with cooking and art activities.
Our peak celebration has been RUOK Day, for which we were very fortunate to have received a YouthFest grant from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. This allowed us to extend our RUOK celebrations over the week. We were able to bring in external facilitators to run both educational and team building activities, as well as to treat students and staff to a celebratory lunch. The whole week was both celebratory and supportive, and shows just how inclusive and caring our community is. Congratulations Wollert SC!
