Other Information:

For students interested in athletics and competing at a high level, there is a Term 4 athletics event run by Athletics SA on Saturday 28 October - Sunday 29 October for any school students aged 12 years or older. This is not a school organised event so students would need to register individually. If your daughter is interested, please let me know so I can organise a Loreto singlet.  The link to register is below:

Junior Sports News

State Athletics Championship

Well done to Marnie Sherwell (800m and 1500m), Sofia Spagnoletti (discus), Maddison Graves (100m relay), April Waudby (100m relay) and Mia Frearson-Lea (high jump) who all qualified to represent the East Adelaide SAPSASA zone at the recent State Athletics Championships.

All performed strongly and the East Adelaide team finished in 6th position overall.

Mia had a particularly outstanding event, winning the bronze medal in the high jump.

Mia had cleared a personal best of 1.20 metres during training in the lead up to the East Adelaide SAPSASA trials. At the trials she recorded another personal best, jumping 1.25m to win the competition and earn the right to go to the State Championships.

At the State Championships she was up against the best 22 high jumpers in her age group. In a high standard, pressure-packed competition Mia went to another level again. Another personal best – jumping 1.29m this time which was enough to win the bronze medal. Congratulations Mia!

Year 5/6 Loreto Blue Soccer

Congratulations to Paulina, Melina and the team on an undefeated season! The girls had to work hard in the final match but a weaving run and quality finish from Elsa-Marie sealed the win after Chelsea gave us the lead in the first half.

How many goals for the season, Chelsea?

Chelsea: “I lost count.”

Sporting Achievements

Congratulations to Alyssa Reed (Contax) and Alanah Searle and Greta Hart (both Garville) who won club grand finals on Saturday morning! The trio didn’t have much time to celebrate however – rushing off to Emery Road for Loreto’s Sub Junior 3 grand final. Two premierships in one day!

Sub Junior 3 Netball Grand Final

Congratulations to Loreto's Sub Junior 3 netball team who won a thrilling grand final against East Marden, 20-14! East Marden played strongly and controlled much of the first half. We were two goals down at quarter time and one down at half time. Reliable shooting from Ella, a couple of brilliant intercepts from Matilda and some tireless work in Centre from Domenica had kept us in touch but there were a few nerves starting to creep in among those on the sidelines. The players held their nerve though and during the third quarter we clicked into gear. Alyssa controlled the game at Goal Defence, intercepting everything and rifling passes up the court. Olivia started to take charge of East Marden's goal circle and won some crucial rebounds. Elsa-Marie was elusive at Wing Attack, finding space at will and feeding our shooters. Juliet was an energiser bunny in Centre, working across every inch of the court. Greta and Alanah started to combine well in the goal circle, finding space near the ring and nailing goal after goal. The one goal deficit had become a four goal lead by three quarter time. We continued on our merry way in the fourth quarter apart from a couple of minor mishaps: - Juliet briefly forgot which way we were going- Sub Elsa-Marie ran onto the court to celebrate while the game was still going, thinking that time had been called It mattered little and we ran our winners by six goals. Congratulations to the team and to our coach Dan who have put together an exceptional season, going undefeated from start to finish. A huge thank you as well to all the family members and friends who have supported the team all season.
