Mission Day

Mary Ward once said, "Women in time to come will do much." These words resonated deeply with us as we sought to raise funds and awareness for Mary Ward International Australia on Mission Day!

Mission Day in support of Mary Ward International Australia, was a testament to the power of unity and compassion within our school community. It was a day where we came together with a shared purpose, to make a positive impact on the lives of those less fortunate.

The day began with an air of excitement and anticipation. The school grounds were transformed into a vibrant hub of activity, with colorful stalls, games, and displays set up by students and teachers, all lead by our Student Executive for 2023.

The day had many highlights we started the day with a liturgy and presentation from our Social Justice Captains, for 2023 Ayshia and Meg and for 2024 Amreen and Alyssia.  Their presentation shed light on the MWIA’s remarkable work in empowering disadvantaged communities, particularly women and girls. Learning about the tangible impact our fundraising efforts would have was a powerful reminder of why we had all come together in the first place. Mission Day for 2023 for Mary Ward International Australia was a resounding success.  It was a day that reminded us of the positive impact we can have when we work together towards a common goal. Mary Ward's words, "Women in time to come will do much," were exemplified through our collective efforts. We are grateful to be able to continue to hold this event and support Mary Ward International Australia.

Social Justice Captains Visit Hutt Street

On Monday our Social Justice Captains and Executive leaders visited Hutt Street. In August the Year 12 Executive and other Year 12 students held a sleep out to raise awreness and funds for the vital work of Hutt Street.  This was a lesson in compassion but also a living embodiment of the Catholic Social Teaching principle of "Solidarity."

Solidarity, a core principle of Catholic Social Teaching, emphasizes our interconnectedness as human beings and calls us to stand with and support those in need. Inside Hutt Street staff and volunteers, driven by a sense of solidarity, were providing food, shelter, and a listening ear to those who may be experiencing Homelessness.  This sense of unity that we saw was not limited to the material assistance but extended to fostering a community through engagement in art projects, music projects and a library.  The centre also provided medical support through people in the community offering their time. Something that got the girls thinking about when they embark on their future careers.

Leaving Hutt Street, inspired the girls to be motivated to incorporate the principles of solidarity and social justice into their own lives, and to continue seeking ways to promote a more just and compassionate society.
