Year 12’s Concluding

Has my child completed their Trade qualifications?

This week, all Year 12 students received a Trades progress sheet to summarise what needs completing. The ’to-do’ list should be discussed with the relevant trainer across our four Trade areas -  Auto, Metals, Furniture and Construction.

Staff are following up and giving ALL Year 12 students every opportunity to complete as many qualifications as possible. By now, the students should clearly understand any outstanding assessments, projects and payments required.

Many students are expected to return next term to complete their studies. In addition, the progress sheet must be completed before approval of students' clearance at the conclusion of Trades.

Personal Projects

This is a reminder that Year 12 students must finalise their accounts for outstanding projects before they leave the College grounds. Students collecting projects must go through administration, obtain a receipt and provide this receipt to the trainer when collecting their project/s.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

It is a requirement for all students working in the workshops to wear the correct PPE. Any student who presents to class without the expected safety equipment will be issued with required PPE and the cost will be placed on their account.

All Students – Be Prepared for Class

A minor but perennial issue is students forgetting to bring a pen to Trades. As minor as it may seem, it is an expectation that your child is prepared to learn. When pens are forgotten several times, it reflects on their general apathy toward learning. I understand it’s a minor point, but we as trainers feel like it’s death by a thousand cuts with repetitive messages being ignored.  In short, we ask students toshow the basic initiative and interest to be prepared for learning!
