P&C News
The GIHS P&C has been working on a few projects over the last two terms.
Cricket Nets
You may have noticed in the North-west corner of the school oval the existing cricket nets have been removed, the concrete slab has now been laid. In Week 1 Term 4, the new cricket nets will be installed. This has been a collaborative project with Glen Innes Junior Cricket, Cricket NSW, and the Glen Innes High School (including NSW Gov’t assets department). Funding from this project has been made possible with funding from The Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund (ACIF). The ACIF project focuses on supporting projects that will attract and grow participation in cricket, in a safe, accessible, welcoming and fit-for-purpose environment. The GIHS cricket nets required a refresh and GI Junior Cricket was after a venue to base their Summer cricket program – so together, along with the assistance of NSW Cricket, we will have new cricket nets for the Summer. Glen Innes High School is a ‘Share our Space’ school which allows the community to share facilities so we can support all youth in our town and region and promote the sport of cricket.
Old Hall upgrade to Performance Centre
This project has been made possible with funding from the WhiteRock Wind Farm Community Fund. Once Year 12 finish their exams in November the Hall will start to have structural work commenced on the roof and stage. This will allow new curtains and lighting to be done, the GIHS P&C has secured funding from WhiteRock to help support this upgrade. Along with the curtains and lighting the White Rock Wind Farm Community Fund is supporting the purchase of a new Baby Grand Piano. The GIHS P&C is still seeking interest from any parents or community members who would like to buy a key to contribute to the fundraising. The Glen Innes Men’s Shed has generously mounted a set of piano keys on a board that will display contributing supporters. The P&C can issue a Tax Invoice. If you are interested in supporting, please mail the gleninneshighschool@pandcaffiliate.org.au. It is planned that early next year the Hall upgrades will be completed, and it will house a new Baby Grand Piano. There are many community groups that utilize this Hall. The P&C is very excited to be supporting the GIHS with upgrading this facility not only for our students to use but for our wider community.

Our last meeting for the year is on Tuesday 14 November at 6 p.m. in the Staff Room at GIHS – enter through the front door and head to the left. All parents, carers, or community members are welcome.
