Changing Places

Last term, Year 9 students completed the unit of study 'Changing Places' which deals with migration, urbanisation, and housing.

As part of this unit, Year 9's assessment task required them to design a house plan and investigate sustainable features to incorporate into their plans.

The Director of Place and Growth at Glen Innes Severn Council, Gayleen Burley acted as a guest guide, assessing students' sustainable house plans. Six students' exceptional work was recognised by the council. These students were able to meet with Gayleen and were able to delve into the importance, role, and possible career opportunities that town planning entails.

The HSIE faculty would like to thank Glen Innes Severn Council, the Department of Place and Growth, and Gayleen for their support of our students, recognising their excellent work, and providing real-world relevance to our classrooms.

Well done to Hazel Murray, Gabby Masterson and Emily Lawler who received first, second and third respectfully and were awarded vouchers to the Fury Cow. Highly commended - Jayden McIntyre, Sarah Fenton and Eva Villella.

Well done to all students involved!

Year Geography R U OK Day - Thursday 14th of September

During our Year 7 Geography lesson on R U OK Day, we spent some time out on the oval conducting field sketches. Students learned to incorporate the foreground, middle and background, to include key details and to accurately label their field sketch.

Students in Year 7 have been studying landscapes and landforms throughout Term 3, we have also been learning important geographical skills.

It is so nice to be able to enjoy our fantastic outdoor learning spaces!
