Years 5 & 6

I would like to start by saying a huge thank you to Year 5 and 6 for their very warm welcome this week.  

In Maths we have been putting our heads together to solve challenging worded problems using the Work Backwards and Draw a Table strategies. Before continuing on with narrative writing the students have stopped to analyse the language used by different authors when describing a setting. Our focus has been on language which appeals to the senses. Following on from this task the students then wrote a description of their own narrative setting using the senses as a platform for greater detail in their writing. 

Next week we are looking forward to both our visit to the Men's Shed to learn about the local nesting boxes and our Urban Upcycle incursion.
