Learning in Italian
EARLY LEARNING LANGUAGES AUSTRALIA (ELLA PROGRAM)
The Prep to Yr 2 students have enjoyed their Italian learning this term using interactive apps provided by the ELLA Program. ELLA is a play-based program that introduces and supports students in learning new languages via interactive tablet apps.
The Polyglots are a cast of characters who introduce the students to words, sentences and songs in Italian. The apps draw on the interests and activities of children, such as celebrations, cooking experiences, art activities, building and role-play.
This term the prep students Italian learning was supported by App 1 – The playroom and App 2 – At the beach. These apps focused on specific language such as colours, numbers and greeting in Italian.
The Year 1 and 2 students Italian learning was supported by App 7 – The town. This app focused on the language of transaction which included the vocabulary needed when requesting/buying goods, conversational language and greetings. The students set up the classroom as a supermarket where they role played both being the customer and shopkeeper. This app also linked to Maths where they learnt different shape names in Italian.
