Year 9 Thursday Electives

Our Thursday electives have continued to offer our Year 9 students fun and engaging experiences. Students have participated in their choice of Sport, Fitness and Recreation, World Cultures, Photography and Farm School. These subjects are focused on engaging students in practical learning and offering them new experiences.

As part of this program, the electives staff have planned a number of whole year level activities to engage students and provide them with opportunities not found normally in a classroom.

One such activity was a Level 2 First Aid course. Students watched demonstrations, discussed real life application of first aid techniques and tackled many practical scenarios that will enable them to complete their theoretical assessment.

Well done to all of the students who undertook this course and took away from it with some valuable skills.

Another of these included the planning of multiple city challenge days for Semester 2. The first of these occurred in Week 9 with Year 9 students travelling to Melbourne to complete their first challenge. This challenge was designed to build student familiarity with a set area within the city.

Students explored iconic locations such as the State Library, the Block Arcade, China Town, and Melbourne Central. In each location students had to take images of the significant icons or locations. They did a great job finding each challenge spot, and meeting our check-in times and points.

Congratulations to our “unique group shot” champions, great job reading the safety requirements for this photo!
