Recognising Student Achievement and Endeavour
One of the best ways to build student motivation and confidence is to seek opportunities to recognise excellence and endeavour. Students who consistently try their best will always achieve more than those who simply go through the motions. Similarly those who achieve excellence can be motivated by knowing that what they can produce is something of which they may be proud.
In Week 5, Healesville High School took the opportunity to recognise and reward a small group of students from Year 7 to 10 who had been identified for obtaining the highest attendance levels in Semester 1. A good attendance rate at school often demonstrates a consistent effort and is a key foundation for success. Regular attendance prevents gaps in learning and allows students to more effectively progress through the curriculum.
The students who were selected were rewarded with an afternoon at the Healesville Memo Cinema for a screening of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. A big thank you to the Healesville Memo who were incredibly accommodating and re-arranged their schedule to benefit our students. The celebration of regular and consistent school attendance is something we plan to do throughout the year. Well done to the students who were selected!
Similarly to the above, in Week 7 Mr Rennick had the privilege of hosting a Principal's luncheon for a group of Year 7 & 9 students who managed to achieve some very impressive results in this year's NAPLAN assessments. All of these students obtained marks in the 'exceeding' category in one or more of the NAPLAN domains, which is no small feat. The message of the luncheon was simple, be proud of what you are doing because you have shown you are each very capable students. A big congratulations to these students. We are very proud of what you achieved and we hope you enjoyed the celebratory food.
