From the Acting Principal

Paula Burns

As we finish up the term with a wonderful sports day, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire St Brigid’s community for what has been an incredibly successful term. The efforts of our students, staff and parents have been remarkable, and I feel very privileged to be part of this and have much to reflect on. From National Science week to Book week, from nature play incursions to Conservation Park excursions, learning has been dynamic throughout this term. We delighted in continuing to strengthen our community by coming together for Masses, for library open evenings and for the Fathers Day Liturgy, to name but a few.  It is always a pleasure to share these wonderful opportunities connecting with each other.

Special Guests

On Thursday 21st September, St Brigid’s hosted international research educator Lyn Sharrat, author of Clarity,  along with Director of Catholic Education South Australia, Dr Neil McGoran, Diocese of Port Pirie Director, Nichii Mardon, Paul Greaves, Director of Education Northern Territory, Acting Director SQP, Mark Corrigan and a whole host of system leaders from South Australia and Northern Territory. We focused on the work we have completed using the Clarity Learning Suite and the transfer of this knowledge which has impacted our community, such as the articulation of high quality teaching and learning experiences, having high expectations for all, and building and strengthening family and community partnerships. We ‘walked the walls’ and asked the students the 5 critical questions. The feedback was extremely positive with our learned guests highlighting the students ownership of their learning, the various intervention strategies in use  and the use of consistent learning language across the school.

We thank Lyn for her generosity of time and CESA for their continued support.

Season of Creation

As we continue in this season of Creation (1st Sep-4th Oct) we continue to pray and respond to the cry of Creation, listening to, and caring for our ‘Common Home’. It was with much excitement that Ms Ozgo and her merry band of R/1 students harvested our first crop of the year ... beetroots. We look forward to the harvesting of the different vegetables and thank Ms Pauline for her continued work in this space.

Blessings

We wish Ms Brook well as she begins her long service leave in Term 4 and wish her every joy as she spends precious time with her family. Year 2/3 will be in safe hands with Ms Pauline Devetzidis who has been working closely with Ms Brook to ensure a seamless transition for our students.

We  farewell Ms Anita Frangiosa who has won a position at Rostrevor College, we thank Anita for her work here at St Brigid's this past year and wish her every success in this new role.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Ms Del Medico, (Alana) and her husband Anthony on the safe arrival of a baby boy, Noah. We wish them every happiness. God bless.
