Hat and Tie day has become a tradition at our College and is a special day for our Year 12 students. A photo is taken each year to mark the occasion and is hung in the Malgobila building along side the other Hat and Tie Photos taken in past years.
The Year 12 students enjoyed their last day of school with a yummy breakfast of croissants and juice, a colour run on the oval, fun games, novelty awards, party food and music. We wish them all the best of luck for their exams and their next adventures.

As part of our transition program at Bairnsdale Secondary College, all year 11 (2023) students will be participating in a 3-day camp at Camp Coolamatong, Banksia Peninsula
The camp is designed to enable students to be prepared to start year 12 in a positive and well-resourced manner. Students, both VCE and VCE VM will engage in a variety of activities which are academic centred, team building based and have a health and wellbeing component.
Students will participate in a range of activities to help develop team bonding skills: Canoeing, Raft Building, Combat Archery, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Survivor (team initiative activity), Indoor Climbing, Bush Cooking and Raft Building.
Please click on link below for camp details including a packing list.
If you require any information please contact Elise Clemm at the senior hub.
The year 11 VM students, held a successful market day last week. All the goodies sold at market day were made by the students. There was a variety of edible and non edible items for sale including, chopping boards and assorted wooden products, jams, lemon curd, chutney, deconstructed biscuits ( great for gifts) seedlings, propagation stations, milkshakes, cookies, brownies, seedling boxes, terrariums, metal garden ornaments, windmills.
A big thanks from the VM students to everyone who assisted and supported the students to prepare for the market and on the day. All profit made on the day is reinvested into the VM program for future projects.
The MYLNS classes have written a cookbook for you to enjoy. The brief included interviewing a significant person in their life to find out about their childhood and earlier life. The students then cooked that person’s favourite childhood dish. All of our cooking sessions were a success and everyone went home with a happy tummy.
A special thanks to the Food Technology team whom allowed us into their space.

On Tuesday October 24, the Year 10 and 11 students from Unit 2 Outdoor and Environmental Studies headed out on their final excursion for the year.
First stop was the TAFE Gippsland campus at Forestec, to hear about the opportunity to study Conservation and Land Management after secondary college. Students were introduced to the course by lecturer Bruce MacPherson, with a idea to take their knowledge about the environmental and impacts and turn it into a career contributing to positive change in the outdoors.
The main event was the canoe trip along the Tambo River from Johnsonville, towards Swan Reach. This is the third canoe activity for the group, and the development of preparation, paddling technique and working as a group was outstanding. Every student has become an accomplished paddler, and so apart from pointing out various aspects of the environment and management techniques by the Catchment Management Authority, staff were allowed to let the students manage themselves to make their way up the river.
The day had warmth, sunshine, and all students appreciated the opportunity to spend the day in the outdoors after a week of exams and academic revision.
Year 10 Food Choices students cooked and prepared a healthy meal for their CAT.
VCE VM students tidying up the veggie gardens.
Our hub would greatly appreciate any donations of second hand uniform or text books that students are no longer using or have outgrown.
