Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 4 of Term 4, where have the first 4 weeks gone…..

Last Friday our year 12 students celebrated the end of 13 years of schooling. It was a day of mix emotions. Our students celebrated with a breakfast of croissants, followed by a colour run and other fun activities and their annual novelty student and staff awards.

We wish all our Year 12 students the best of luck for their future whether it be exams or other life adventures.

Speaking of exams, we are underway! The Year 12 exams began this week with English on Tuesday. There were some nerves, both students and staff, but so far everything is going well and feedback has been good.  Exams are a big deal for both students and staff, everyone has worked so hard, but the end is in sight, and the many hours of study and review pay off. I am super proud of all our students and staff.

For students who have chosen not to do exams, last Friday was their last day. They will have successfully completed their VCE or VCE VM certificate and their secondary schooling has come to an end. Whatever the path of our students is – we can only wish them well and look forward to meeting them again soon and hearing of their adventures.

We will see all our Year 12 students again at our Graduation evening on the 16th November, a chance to celebrate all that has been achieved for the year.

Please don’t forget the Headstart program. If your child is in year 11 – they will start their year 12 studies in week 7. This will prepare them for the work across January and kick off the year 12 program to maximise every moment.  Our current year 11 students will also participate in a study camp from 8th to 10th November.

In week 9 the rest of our College will begin the Headstart program.  The current year 7 students begin their year 8 classes and so on. Please check the Upcoming Events page for key dates for Term 4 for more details.

On Monday 6th November (the day before Melbourne Cup Day public holiday) we will be having a student free day.  This day will be a Professional Development Day for all staff. We will all be travelling to The Summit camp site for activities that encourage teamwork and build staff relationships. Last year we attended The Summit and it was a huge success and we had lots of great feedback from our staff, so we are doing it again!

Last week I presented the final report from our College Review to our College Council. It was a joy to be able to discuss both the highlights achieved and the targeted work to be done moving forward. This document and work will drive the development of the next 4 year strategic plan and also the 12 month incremental Annual Implementation Plan. This process will be a collaborative process amongst the leadership group and staff.

Something to ponder:  I ponder how all families are going to support their children to finish the current year level 'on a high' – given we soon move into out head start program.

Thanks for reading. Always happy to chat – just make an appointment.
