Free Dress Day
The following message is from Sophia T and Luca S, and explains the free dress day our grade 6 leaders are organising as part of their Community Action Plan.
Just a reminder on Friday the first of September there will be a free dress day which you will need to dress up as what you want to be when you grow up! We chose to do this because you will need a proper education to get a good job, also we will not be asking for a donation. Their will be a prize given to who has the best outfit! We want to remind everyone that getting a proper education is very important later in life, especially if you want to get your dream job and much more, so we have named this free dress day “when I grow up…”.
Book Drive
The following message is from Tash, Christian, Yianni and Haruto , and explains the book drive our grade 6 leaders are organising as part of their Community Action Plan.
Attention everyone!
We are running a Resource Drive for the Noble Park English Language School. So if you have any spare books lying around the house please bring them in and put them in the box in your classroom. The books can be picture books, chapter books, anything! There is one thing that you need to keep in mind… They need to be in good condition, so that they can be reused!
Happy Birthday Mr A
Our Grade 3 and 4 students sang happy birthday to Mr A. He thoroughly enjoyed the rendition as you can see from the below picture.
Downball Competition
On Friday 11th August, 10 superstar BBPS students ventured out to Heathmont for the inaugural Victorian Downball tournament. Dressed head to toe in green and red, we were definitely ready to take on the competition from the 20 other schools who had travelled from as far as Wangaratta to participate. Ethan, Rhys, Dan, Tutu & Haruto represented BBPS in the grade 5/6 division where they played their way to 5th place in a sensational display of downball talent and BBPS sportsmanship. Haruto was selected as our representative in the individual division, after winning the challenge against his teammates and did us proud.
For the grade 3/4 team, this tournament offered the first opportunity to represent BBPS in an interschool sporting event and just like our more experienced 5/6 team, they showed skill and determination to finish 11th. Well done to Tallulah, Ori, Raffy, Nick and Lachie. Nick represented our team in the individual section playing very well against some tough opposition.
We turned heads from the moment we entered the stadium with our enthusiasm, team spirit, pom poms, tutus, headbands, face paint and hairspray. There was a huge cheer when the tournament organisers announced BBPS as the winners if the downball Vibe award. All players received a Downball Victoria tshirt and downballs for their efforts. Thank you very much to the parents who helped with transport and came along on the day to support our teams.

Grade 6 Debating Team
Congratulations to our grade 6 debaters, who had a successful day of debating at Brighton Secondary College. We are proud of you!
Our debaters were: Belle, Daniel, Johnny, Michael, Anton and Xinson
Belle: "We went to Brighton Secondary College where we debated against other primary schools. Some of the topics were 'We should close all zoos', and 'we should abolish standardised testing' and 'Australia should increase its reliance on solar power'. For the first and second debate I was awarded Best Speaker. One of our teams won twice and one of the teams won once. I think it was a really good experience and it has helped to develop my public speaking skills"
