Visual Art

The Art Room has been a productive place in Term 3 with students exploring and experimenting with various materials and concepts, to design, make and create.

Being creative and making art engages children's senses and supports the development of their cognitive, social-emotional and multi-sensory skills.

I hope students find many ways to engage in art making at home over the spring holidays.

There are also plenty of ways to enjoy art in Melbourne during these school holidays, for example:

NGV Kids Exhibition Activity Trail (NGV)

Fantastic Beasts: The Wonder of Nature (at Melbourne Museum)

Wonder at the magic of the creatures from the Wizarding World alongside the remarkable animals from London’s Natural History Museum collection. Diverse specimens and artefacts from the world-leading scientific collections of London’s Natural History Museum will be on display alongside custom made models from the Wizarding World, original artworks from Bloomsbury Publishing, and props from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts film series.

Kids Holiday Workshop: Stencil Street Art (Blender Studios)

Ever wanted to find out how Banksy does it? This workshop offers an introduction to spray-painting through stencils. Every participant will design and create their own re-usable stencil that they will cut from acetate and can take home. Using a combination of basic freehand skills and stencilling techniques, they'll then spray paint a canvas they also get to keep.

Suits ages 10+ years. Kids Holiday Workshop: Stencil Street Art - What's On Melbourne

Make Your Own Trash Puppet (Atrium, Fed Square)

Trash Puppets’ playful puppetry workshops are a hands-on, technology-free way for children and families to get creative together. Trash Puppets teaches kids to create their very own one-of-a-kind puppet made completely out of recycled materials. No glue or paint required!

Have a lovely spring break!
