In the Classroom

Our gymnastics program came to a close this week, with students from F-6 showcasing all of the skills they have learned throughout the program in one final session on the bars, beam, trampoline and mats. What a fantastic way to round out the term! Well done to all BPPS students for their efforts in PE over the last 10 weeks, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready to go for a big Term 4!

District Athletics

Almost 60 BPPS students from Years 3-6 attended the District Athletics Carnival on Monday September 4th at Tom Kelly Athletics Track. All athletes who attended on the day competed with so much effort, passion and positivity and should be incredibly proud of the manner in which they represented themselves and our school. Not only this, but we had some incredible success on the day across all events, both individually and as a team, with BPPS placing second overall of all of the schools in our district. While all students did a fantastic job on the day, special congratulations must go to the 19 BPPS students who finished in the top 2 of their individual and/or team events and have qualified to attend the Division Athletics Carnival on October 11th as a result. Good luck to all of these students in Division, can’t wait to celebrate more success with you all!

District Basketball

Last Friday, 18 of our finest basketball players attended the Year 5/6 District Basketball competition. Both our boys team and girls team performed exceptionally well, showing great skills, teamwork, resilience and passion throughout the day. Both teams won three of their four matches to finish in second place overall in their respective competitions. Thanks to all of our boys and girls for spoiling me to a great (albeit somewhat stressful) day of basketball.

Sporting Spotlight

I just wanted to give a quick shout out one of our amazing Year 6 students, Anthony L, who was recently voted as the back-to-back best and fairest for his junior football team, the Greythorn and Balwyn Jets. On top of this honour, this season Anthony was also awarded the league best and fairest, receiving 24 votes in the umpire voting system. Having had the privilege of coaching Anthony for Interschool Football in Term 2, I witnessed first hand what a fantastic football player Anthony is, but even more what a supportive and encouraging teammate he is. Anthony is a passionate advocate for children’s involvement in sport and has agreed for me to share his story in the hopes of encouraging other students to get active, energised and enthusiastic about sport and exercise. Well done Anthony and thanks so much for your positivity and for the example you set for those around you.

Have a great holidays everyone!
