From the Desk of Emily Barnes

Assistant Principal - Wellbeing, Engagement and Inclusion

A very warm welcome to the 2024 school year to all of our students, parents, carers and community members. I am so looking forward to working with our Year 12 cohort to strengthen your engagement and inclusion in your education as you head towards the end of your secondary school experience.

The buzz and excitement of the new school year took us through our Orientation week with a focus on building connections with each other and with our wider community. Our Year 12 Captains Anna Lauder, Ava Kennedy-Hazelden and Elle Watharow delivered a heartfelt Acknowledgement of Country at our first day assembly and welcomed our Year 11 and 12 cohorts to the school. The captains will be leading the Student Representative Council in 2024 and will be joined by Year 11 Captains in Two Term.

Year 12 teachers and Mentors are impressed with the dedication and enthusiasm that students have been showing in their classes. Class discussions, practical lessons and excursions are all well underway and these are made possible by students who are excited to learn and contribute.

On a personal note, I would like to thank all those students, parents, carers, staff and community members who have welcomed me back to the school in my role as Assistant Principal, after taking some time away last year to work for the Berry Street Education Model. I am thrilled to be back and working to make change in a school that does so much for so many.
